Incom Tapers – Protecting Our Troops; Improving Our Defense

INCOM’s tapers are key components in image intensifiers and are used in most of the U.S. Army’s 65,000 Abrams tanks. This technology allows tank operators to maintain daytime visual acuity at night.

Image intensifiers used in night vision for the military rely on a high-resolution, artifact-free image. INCOM’s tapers play a vital role because they have the small-fiber diameter, high-fiber quality and low fixed-pattern noise required to create such high-quality images.

INCOM’s tapers are used in image intensifier coupling in order for the image intensifier to relay the output image to a CCD sensor or other device. Fiberoptic tapers are far superior to optical lenses for this process due to a much higher coupling efficiency, which yields a near-perfect image. INCOM tapers also work well with all image inverter tubes since GEN I.

Incom’s Custom Tapers Can Meet All Mil Specs

Demanding mil specs are no problem for INCOM’s manufacturing capabilities. We can custom design any of our tapers for exact specifications and applications. The quality controls of our manufacturing processes also ensure high-quality components created to specifications every time.
