Incom Faceplates Allow for "Big Picture" Images By providing the largest fiberoptic faceplates available, INCOM opens doors to increasingly larger X-ray sensors for full chest X-rays and whole body scans. In these applications, thin INCOM faceplates are coupled to oversized CMOS sensors. INCOM's low-profile faceplates can also be used in conversion packages that replace film cassettes in existing film-based X-ray systems, providing a simple, convenient, and cost-effective upgrade to the latest digital technology. Fiberoptic Faceplates and X-Ray Shielding As a leading supplier of fiberoptic faceplates for digital imaging applications, INCOM is well aware of the problems that OEMs face as their X-ray detectors (such as CCD and CMOS chips) are damaged by long-term exposure to X-rays. In addition, the effectiveness of X-ray detectors is degraded by background "noise” from X-rays. In response to these problems, INCOM engineers have optimized glass thickness and formulations to shield sensors from damaging X-rays. This allows for heightened image quality and extends the life of CCD or CMOS sensors. |
